Our story began in 2006 when Jalal Abu-Gazaleh, our founder, started supplying top-tier 5-star hotels throughout Cairo with premium meat and seafood. Introducing unparalleled Australian beef to the Egyptian market revealed a demand for such products within the Cairo community. Customer satisfaction became the cornerstone of our mission to redefine the grocery shopping experience, transforming it from a chore into a delightful journey.

Located conveniently near Maadi’s Ring Road, Gourmet Egypt opened its doors in 2008, offering a wide selection of delectable products sourced from around the world that were not easily found in mainstream retail stores. Our portfolio included everything from Italian and French farmhouse cheeses to authentic pasta, condiments, and Asian fusion ingredients.

With close to a decade of expertise in premium food retail, Gourmet Egypt has become synonymous with quality and excellence. When import restrictions were implemented in 2015, we anticipated challenges ahead. As a customer-centric business, maintaining our established standards and ensuring uncompromised quality became our top priority.

This led to the creation of Handcrafted by Gourmet, featuring two production facilities staffed by talented and passionate chefs who transform beloved household recipes into a range of soups, salads, bakery items, and convenient ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat meals. Our portfolio expanded to include fresh and frozen items made with the finest local and imported ingredients.

Embracing local producers has opened up a whole new realm for us. We take pride in supporting local businesses and have collaborated with many of them over the years to offer an exclusive range of products.
